Marist College Eastwood is a Catholic Secondary school for boys for Years 7 to 12, providing a broad curriculum and a variety of co-curricular activities and experiences to its students. Located close to Eastwood Station, bus stops and shops, Marist College Eastwood is easily accessible to students from both the local area and the broader Sydney region.
Marist College Eastwood offers a broad-based curriculum, with a variety of subjects to suit students’ needs. Students are able to select from a range of both academic and vocational courses. Many students at the College also seek to combine subjects from the local TAFE (Technical and Further Education) Colleges.
In addition to traditional HSC subjects, senior students may also choose to undertake industry recognised VET courses such as IT and Construction which gives them the training and experience required when seeking employment in that field. Accelerated study for talented students is offered in Computing Studies, enabling students to complete their HSC course in Year 11. Support is also given to those senior students who wish to take a flexible path in their studies, allowing them to spread their workload over more than 2 years.
Every year students from Marist College Eastwood are ranked amongst the top candidates in the New South Wales Higher School Certificate examination. Students from the College have achieved excellence in many subjects. We are also ranked amongst the best performing boys schools in the Archdiocese of Sydney and our NAPLAN and School Certificate results are well above state averages.
The College has an academic Religious Education program, which enables students to grow to an understanding of their faith, in a contemporary way.
Students in Years 7 and 9 participate in the camp/retreat program, while students in Years 11 and 12 attend a spiritual retreat. Here they have time out to reflect on their lives and families, and receive guidance in examining their lives from a Christian perspective. These retreats are always a highlight of our students’ time at the College.
We believe that our students will be nurtured daily in their faith journey, and by interpreting their lives in the light of the Gospels, be able to recognise and celebrate their relationship with themselves, others and their God.
Information Technology and the Resource Centre
Students at Marist College Eastwood have access to a modern, well equipped Resource Centre, comprising a spacious Library. Our students optimise all learning spaces via the school wireless network accessed through each student’s personal laptop.
The Library offers a place for students to research and study either with their teachers, or privately during lunchtimes and after school. It is spacious and well resourced with up to date books, journals and non print resources, and can accommodate two classes at any one time.
We believe in the continued development and promotion of the College by providing contemporary educational facilities and by producing excellent educational outcomes.
The College offers a variety of co-curricular activities in which students are encouraged to participate, including Chess, Debating, Public Speaking, School Band, and Duke of Edinburgh.
Students participate in a wide variety of sports each week. Both competitive and non-competitive sports are available. The College is a member of Metropolitan Catholic Schools (MCS) sporting association, and is highly successful at this level of competition especially in athletics and football. Many of our students also take the opportunity to represent the College in a variety of external sporting events, including Super 10s Rugby, Aussie Rules, World 10’s Rugby, and State Cricket competitions- Berg Shield, Tigers Cup and Downey’s Shield.
