Bennelong STEM Challenge at MCE

2018 Space in Schools – Bennelong STEM Challenge

Term 3
Marist College Eastwood saw their first success in the annual Bennelong STEM Challenge. The focus this year was ‘Space in Schools’ where students had to create their own virtual company to promote the 3D design of a unique biomedical space hub to exist on Mars. Of the six teams at MCE who were up for the challenge, two made it through to the finals at Medtronic in Macquarie Park. The day consisted of teams setting up their trade displays, a 10 minute verbal presentation and a virtual reality walkthrough of their 3D model. Our Year 8 team triumphed in the High School category with particular commendation on their use of social media in their trade display and the confidence with which they presented on the day, an impressive feat! A big congratulations to all students who worked tirelessly to meet all of the requirements of this challenge. There is no doubt that this was a worthwhile, authentic learning experience for all involved.
